Bowel Cancer Screening Dashboard
Description
The NHS Long Term ambition is that 75% of cancers are detected at stage one and two by 2028. It also aims to reduce health inequalities. This population health tool was initiated and developed through partnership working between the NWL IB team and RM Partners Cancer Alliance (using WSIC data). Together we have a joint ambition of providing equitable cancer care for all our residents. This dashboard has been developed to support NWL PCNs and ICSs review their bowel screening data at Borough, PCN and Practice level. To help reduce inequality in 23/24, no practice should reduce their screening performance (coverage) and the minimum expected threshold for each practice in NWL is 60%. The Bowel Cancer Screening dashboard considers NWL GP registered individuals who have had a bowel cancer screen in the previous 30 months* [i.e. coverage]; and the population demographics of the screened vs not screened cohorts. The data included in the dashboard is for 60-74 years. Please refer to the dashboard user guide – https://www.nwlondonicb.nhs.uk/download_file/view/4531/1927
Results/Insights
Bowel Cancer Screening Dashboard - Use Case Examples: The Bowel Cancer Screening dashboard enables those working across NWL (both clinical and non-clinical staff), to determine the number of Screened and Unscreened patients in their Borough, PCN, and Practice. It also target inequalities by understanding the deprivation and ethnicity makeup of their Borough, PCN, and Practice, to help tailor interventions to specific communities and encourage them to attend for bowel screening.
